The Best Time to Visit the Maldives
Sunshine, sea conditions and crowds shift through the year. Here's how to pick the right month for your island escape.
The Maldives is a year-round destination, but the experience changes dramatically between seasons. Knowing the difference between the dry and wet monsoons is the single biggest lever on weather, water clarity and price.
Dry season (November–April)
These are the peak months: low humidity, calm seas and excellent visibility for snorkelling and diving. Expect the highest rates, especially around the December holidays.
Wet season (May–October)
Short, heavy downpours are common but rarely last all day. You'll trade some sunshine for noticeably lower prices and quieter resorts — and May–June is prime time for spotting manta rays and whale sharks.
